More: Angus recently died of bladder cancer. He was called by men who've hunted birds all over the world the greatest bird dog they ever knew. Gray's Sporting Journal featured a piece I wrote on him in 2015. One of the top bagpipe players in the world (Bruce Gandy from Nova Scotia) wrote a bagpipe tune tribute to him called "Salute to Angus of the Chukar Hills." Now, his ashes are scattered through those hills every time we shoot: I hand load shotgun shells with a little bit of Angus's ashes in each one.
