More: Belle works for the city of Columbia as the parks‘ Goose Deterrent Dog. She got on-the-job training from our previous (dear departed) border collie, Dulce, who started in 2008. The city had a terrible Canada goose problem. In 2003, the city had to slaughter 200 geese to get the population under control. They were starting to come back when Dulce went to work; the population has been under control ever since. Belle patrols a total of 10 parks. She makes two trips a day, ten months out of the year.
