He puts the scent line between his legs, locks on and runs with power and control, with very few checks. He runs the scent line as conditions allow; slowing to a walk and picking it or driving in full stride with medium to fast speed. Pack pressure doesn't bother him as he runs the scent line from any position in the pack. He will turn with the trail as front runners overrun the trail. Red has no quit and will run to exhaustion. As one hunter put it, "that dogs a machine."
