More: Chief is a hard charging, stubborn, SOB that will go further and hunt harder than any other dog I’ve been around. He’d rather die than miss a bird or quit on a hunt. Over the years I’ve learned to trust his nose more than any hunting “instinct” or “experience” that I think I might have. Other than the grey hairs that are creeping in, you’d never know that he’s almost nine years old. I know he can’t live forever but if ever there was a dog I’d bet on doing it, it’d be him.
