More: Quite simply, Cole is what I call our once in a lifetime dog. He has not left my side since the day he became family. He has always been so grateful and expresses his gratitude with loyalty, generosity, and humility. When I give him a fresh bowl of water he looks up to nudge his nose with mine as if to say thank you. He has slowed down quite a bit in recent months, but he is forever youthful on the inside, welcoming foster dogs and others into the pack. When I sit with him or lay in bed with him I find myself trying to memorize what he smells like and feels like because I know that one day he’ll be gone and I’ll have wished for more of those moments.
