Dartmoor’s Rock O’Dundee

Waiting for ducks

More: The venerable Dundee. No better hunting companion than this gentleman. Dundee is quiet, steady, and never met a cheese roll he didn’t like. He is happy to sit in a blind, in a marsh, in a boat, on a lap and never complains, whether there are birds to retrieve or not. If there are birds, however, and his partners are on their game, he will charge fearlessly through any cover, in any weather, through ice and snow and tides, and run, swim, or crawl to retrieve all the geese and all the ducks, and deliver them to hand with a smile. And if there’s an extra cheese roll in it for him afterwards, he’s not unhappy about that either.
