George

George's Domain

More: George came out of the Grayson Highlands Wilderness area February 2011 during a brutal storm with single digit temperatures, high wind, and snow. He was a six-month-old pup; scared, frozen, skunked, tail partially amputated, no collar, and starving. He decided that our remote cabin was a safe place, adopted us as his pack, and stayed with us for the rest of his life. While tolerating the returns to Charlotte for work, George was a creature of the woods and lived for the off the leash days in the mountains. He loved the pack hikes on the Appalachian Trail, drinking from cold mountain streams, exploring the peaks and rhododendron tunnels, or playing frisbee in the meadow. On the best hikes he would be overcome with the “happies” woohooing down the trail a dog possessed with joy. While expressive and loving he was always dignified and reserved.
