More: Gus, our 7 year old Deutsch Drahthaar was diagnosed last September with bone cancer. Extremely sad news to hear. Trained by my husband, this versatile hunting dog in his prime has been a great pointer and retriever on grouse, woodcock, and pheasant. He is a very strong dog physically and in spirit. The decision was made to amputate his front left leg, leaving him a tri-pawed. It was the right decision for this canine friend and family member. With the constant wagging of his tail, he continues to hunt and enjoys life every day.
