More: Hachi was adopted from a shelter in North Carolina after having been found on the side of the highway in really bad shape, with a punctured eye. No one knows exactly how old he is or what breed he is, but the vet suspects that he is some part Jack Russell and possibly Shih Tzu. Timid and shy and first, he wouldn’t even eat his food, but after a few years in a loving home he has become the sweetest dog I’ve ever known. The damage to his eye has caused a type of glaucoma, and he is mostly blind in that eye. He now has a younger “brother” named Ares, a lab-collie mix, who we adopted last year. He loves carrots and chicken nuggets.
