More: My partner John died of Covid-19 in early February. Like so many people around the world, I struggled to recover from the illness while grieving in isolation. After getting vaccinated, I decided to take a months-long coast to coat road trip to see family and experience the beauty of our country. So far, Harper and I have covered more than 8,000 miles and visited 11 states. Harper is my shotgun rider, my emotional support animal, my best friend, and the sweetest, happiest dog I've ever known. He's living his best life and teaching me to continue to live mine.
