Hector

Stop and Smell the Flowers

More: Found as a stray on the street, brought to a high-kill shelter and initially unsuccessfully rehomed, the rescue that saved Hector was very picky about who would be lucky enough to adopt him. Mom was the 60th applicant. The first few months they worked through anxiety and Hector learning to trust after obvious past abuse. His resilience, loyalty and love know no bounds. He’s endearingly grateful. He stops to smell flowers. It’s been 1.5 years since he came home, and to this day each time he gets a bully stick, marrow bone or new toy, he prances around showing it off, as if he just cannot believe his good fortune. Yet if his doggy sister Bao Bao wants his treat or toy, he immediately gives it to her. Despite his love for adventure, his favorite place is by Mom’s side. She calls him “My Love.” Because he is.
