When our first puppy class began, I looked at the shepherd puppy to our left and all the others down the line, took a deep breath and watched Badger disappear in the tall damp grass as I put her down beside me. We continued training basic obedience and outdoor agility on full-size equipment in groups and on our own. After easily earning a good citizenship certificate and specialized training, we became a certified therapy team reading with children in elementary schools. At 14, Badger continues to be an outstanding representative of an often misunderstood breed.
