More: Koa is a rescue. Our daughter found her when she was 10 months old, according to the vet, and no shelter would take her. We named her Koa, Hawaiian for “valiant one, or warrior.” We thought it appropriate because she was emaciated when we got her. We kept her and she loves hiking the Santa Monica Mountains and Canyon Trails. Koa is very friendly, loves kids , playing tag and catch, and meeting other people and dogs, and has a ton of energy.
