Kodiak

My Gentle Giant

More: Kodiak was rescued at 6 weeks of age from a breeder who discarded him because he was born with swimmers syndrome. Swimmers syndrome is an uncommon developmental deformity of newborn dogs whereby the limbs, primarily the hind limbs, are splayed laterally resulting in an inability to stand or walk. Forward movement with this affliction is only accomplished by lateral pedaling motions (swimming). Thankfully, Kodiak was given a chance at life by Lucky Pup Rescue SC. After weeks of physiotherapy, bandaging and splinting his legs, lots of tears, encouragement and love, he was able to walk on his own. Kodiak is now 1 year old and is the sweetest, most gentle, lovable boy and is a very cherished member of our family.
