More: We enjoy every day of life we are having with her. She has brought others joy as we are a retired pet therapy team having volunteered in the hospital, school (“Read to me”), nursing homes and church. She has brought so much joy not to just us but to patients, their families, visitors and hospital staff as well as to kids and teachers in school and lonely people in nursing homes. I have no idea how many smiles she caused or comfort she has given but she definitely has made some difference (as do all pet therapy animals) during the time we volunteered before she had some health issues. Thankfully she is healthy and we’re hoping to look into visiting nursing homes once again since we moved and Covid rules are hopefully loosening up. To see her with people, complete strangers, making them feel loved or to give comfort to them is what I believe is our mission until we can no longer do it so I’m hoping we can get started again soon.
