More: Summer of 2009— This photo was from a family trip of seven to the Boundary Waters Wildnerness Canoe Area (BWCA) with four kids under the age of 12 and our new rescue puppy, Luna. Luna is now 13 years old and recently had successful oncology surgery for oral melonoma. She's still athletic and loves to canoe, paddleboard, and swim. At our local Orvis store, Luna pays for our items by jumping up, placing her paws on the counter, and waits for the (always a dog lover) salesperson to take the credit card from her "soft" mouth. She can also play the piano and buy you a beer at the nearby brewery! The most loyal, brilliant, loving dog we've ever had.
