More: My dog Maggie and I are both from South Carolina, but we live in Oregon now and are having plenty of adventures chasing quail, mallards, chukar, grouse, pheasant and turkey. She’s my first bird dog, and can’t think of a better pup since Maggie’s just as happy cuddling on the coach in our small house as hunting up a downed quail in the middle of a thicket three hundred miles from home.
