More: We had a DNA test done. It found that Max was a mix of 6 breeds. He has American Bulldog, German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Labrador Retriever, and American Staffordshire Terrier. The sixth breed the test was not certain about but they were sure that the dog’s ancestors came from Africa. My guess would be Rhodesian Ridgeback but there is no way to be sure. Max is a rescue. We found him at the Nebraska Humane Society. He came down with pneumonia about a week after we got him home. He had to spend a couple days in an animal hospital. He had a couple other problems in 2019 and vet bills came to over $5,000. Today he is a healthy, very intelligent, and loving dog. This is a photo of him when he was a puppy. A little of each breed shows in him but when people guess what he is they usually guess Rottweiler.
