Miss Moxie of Merrifield

Miss Moxie's First Fly Fishing Adventure

More: Miss Moxie is a spirited classic line English Setter. She is fearless, curious and wicked smart. My fishing buddy Dr. Z and I took her out in my canoe on Basin Pond in Chatham, NH on June 5, 2022 (Basin Pond is within the White Mountains National Forest near the Maine border). It was a blustery day but Miss Moxie performed like a pro with no issues in the canoe. We did put a pdf on her but she was so small at the time that she was able to slip out of the neck hole. We were on the water about five hours with a break for a snack. I believe we caught and released three Brook Trout. Dr. Z and I both have Orvis Superfine Carbon 2wt rods with Battenkill reels to match. You can see them in the photo. It is the perfect setup for smaller Brook Trout on a dry fly. I took the photo with my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G in full wide landscape mode to capture the depth of the background as well as Miss Moxie sitting pretty. The photo looks great no matter how you crop it. Thanks, Steve
