More: Nico was born with a shunt unknown to the breeder. He was in and out of the ER and on medications for the first 18 months of his life. Once he got big enough, he underwent surgery to correct this. He was cut most of the length of his body. The surgery was successful. It wasn't an overnight success as it takes several months for it to create scar tissue to close off the blood vessel. But now he loves life to the very fullest. He LOVES playing ball to the point of obsession. He is my wonderful little miracle.
