Otis (Otey for short)

He was in a meadow on Hogback Mountain at 5100 ‘ above sea level near Cashiers, NC. Sadly, we were up there to bury a beloved family member and his presence brought us great consolation. He stood at full attention while we dug the grave and would not leave until every person had dropped a handful of dirt into the grave.

More: He was the alpha male in a litter of 9, two of his siblings having been adopted by a former Presidential candidate (Democrat) and his mother a local legend named for one of the great plantations in our area, Wimbee Garden Farm. Otis loves to chase fiddler crabs, squirrels and almost caught a juvenile raccoon last night (saved by the bell). My wife says “He’s a love!”
