More: We rescued Penny nearly 5 years ago but in many ways she rescued us. She was living on her own with a chain around her neck, and severely unweight when she was found. It's amazing that she loves people; she is an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog! She is the favorite member of our family. A few years ago, when our son traveled to Italy with his class, he FaceTimed nearly every day to "talk" to the dog. Penny also sent our son letters so he woulnd't miss her so much when he was at summer camp. Now, our oldest/daughter is in college and our youngest/son will be there next year. Penny will be the "only child" living at home next year. The adjustment to having both kids away at college will certainly be easier because of her.
