More: My son adopted Pete at 4 or 5 months old when a co-worker no longer needed Pete for hunting due to an injury (he broke his leg when he was just a few weeks old due to a fall). He had surgery and multiple pins after the first break. Long story short , but Pete’s leg never recovered and after a second surgery and second break to the same leg, our vet recommended amputation. Pete had his leg amputated this past fall and this was his first run (2 1/2 weeks post amputation). He’s the sweetest bird dog you’ll ever meet and a pretty darn good runner…probably the fastest 3 legged-dog you’ll meet!
