More: When we first got Phil he was training to become a service dog. His drive and high energy made us consider whether another job might bring him more joy. Today Phil participates in various sports but his favorite are retriever trials! He loves going out on the boat at our lake house on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH. On summer days Phil’s favorite activity is going into the lake for his morning swim. The lake is one big “lab puddle” as we call it. Phil also loves to play with his brother Elvis (a two year old yellow lab) and 6 month old sister Aspen (a yellow lab) who is part of Foliage Retrievers Service Dogs. Foliage Retrievers Service Dogs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in NH that raises and trains service dogs for individuals that are underserved by existing organizations including veterans in rural areas, civilians with PTSD, and individuals with debilitating chronic illness. Foliage Retrievers has also worked with Tugboat (Waffle from @wafflenugget and @kate_speer on instagram) who is Phil’s bestie. (@foliageretrievers on Instagram) When the day winds down Phil enjoys laying on the couch with his human dad, Harry and his little brother Teddy (a long haired miniature dachshund).
