More: Pico was surrendered to a shelter to be euthanized by his first family because of a broken leg. A rescue saved him and raised money to treat his injury. He spent most of his first year of life in a shelter in Texas. While in treatment for his injury, he contracted Parvo and nearly died. The first year of his life he faced many struggles and never knew the feeling of home. I found him through a rescue transport online and couldn't imagine my life without him. Pico traveled 3 days from Texas to Oregon to find his furrever home. Now he knows what home feels like and every day is an adventure. I often wonder how someone could have given up on this little guy but I am grateful that he was given a second chance at life filled with love, belly rubs, a cozy bed, lots of kisses and chasing birds on our hiking adventures.
