More: Poplar recently came into my life while I was visiting my hometown in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I wasn’t even looking for a dog. An old family friend happened to be rehoming her and I couldn’t resist. Poplar quickly joined me on adventures including our hike on the Flume Trail in the Black Hills, as pictured. She loves hiking even more than I do and has done very well on the trail from day one. Poplar is a classic, loyal, loving, smart, adaptable, friendly, and playful miniature schnauzer. Being a classic schnauzer, she makes an excellent watch dog, even barking at her own reflection in the sliding glass door to ensure my safety. Poplar brings me more joy at home and on the trail than I ever could have imagined.
