Rooster's Office
Owner: Clayton
Breed: Irish Setter
Age: 1 Year 8 Months
More: Rooster, a almost 2-year old Irish Setter who has been one of the greatest blessing to ever happen to our family. Rooster is named after John Waynes character Rooster Cogburn from the movie True Grit. The reason behind that is his movies are a huge part of my childhood, I would watch his movies with Nana and Grandpa after working cattle on their ranch in East Texas and this was a way to remind of the memories, I got to share with them. Rooster is a true outdoorsman through and through. He lives to explore and experience everything that nature has to offer. Whether he is swimming the rivers of the Texas hill country while I fly fish, flushing quail and pheasant with his friends in South Texas and South Dakota or just finding a nice piece of soft grass to lay down on and chew on one of his Axis and Whitetail sheds he found while on one of our evening walks. We are constantly visiting our favorite Orvis store together when we need some new gear, or he is getting to pick out a new toy. So much so we are known by name in there. Well, him more than me. As competitive as we are, winning this contest isn’t the reason we have entered it. We lost our family dog 4 years ago to cancer and it was extremely hard. Not to sound cliché but being able to be able to help raise money for canine cancer research is the real contest for us. We hope that if a family is put in the same devastating situation there will be more solutions. I will leave you with this. My grandpa’s favorite quotes from True Grit and it describes Rooster perfectly. “I was born game and I intend to go out that way.”
