Rusty

Rusty smiles by the creek edge at the start of a hike (even though he's not a fan of water!)

More: Rusty is a rescue dog. He was originally pulled from a high kill shelter in rural Alabama and made the 13 hour trip to Maryland in a box truck with 64 other dogs where we adopted him in a truck stop parking lot. From the moment he entered our lives he's been a wild child at heart. He's smart, stubborn, inquisitive, adventurous, and independent. He loves being outside, but hates being wet. He's just as likely to sit and watch a squirrel or a deer go by as he is to bark and chase it. He's gentle when he needs to be, and forceful when he wants to be. He takes socks directly off of feet... but he does it whenever he wants, not when it's convenient. He loves to cuddle almost as much as he loves to be in the woods or sunbathing in the yard.
