More: Savage was a rescue; I found him in a shelter, brought him home & we loved him for 13 years. We shared 13 years of adventures together; camping, elk hunts, squirrel hunts, can-am rides etcs. MANY happy & fun memories were shared! One fun memory that I will share, took place after a morning elk hunt up on the Mogollon Rim. Savage loved treeing squirrels & he was good at it. So Gene & his father, Charles, were driving a dirt road in an old Square Body Chevy Blazer, windows down, Savage in the back, searching for squirrels. Savage spotted a squirrel from in the back of the Blazer & proceeded to use Charles' neck as a springboard to jump out the passenger window! Was a hilarious moment! Not for Charles, but for all the story has been told to. Savage trusted very few people that entered his camp & anyone that approached his papa, Gene. Savage loved us & we loved him. He was & always will be our best friend & our 3 man crew is sorely missing their pack leader. Savage hunted a collared dove right up to his final hour, on 1/19/23.
