More: Shadow was an amazing companion who shared life's journey with us for 14 years. We saw when we adopted him from the Humane Society - at 8 weeks old- that he had a beautiful smile, a unique northern breed personality, a brilliant mind and an exuberant spirit. And, we quickly realized that Shadow's mission in life was to bring joy to everyone. On his many walks, hikes and outings, people would simply stop to say hello, admire his engaging smile and savor his contagiously adventuresome and enthusiastic spirit. Shadow led us on hikes from PA to SC and many places in between . . . but his all time favorite place was at our cabin at the base of the Pisgah National Forest in western North Carolina where he could frolic in the woods, explore the outdoors and entice us to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. (His award worthy picture we have submitted here is from a trail Shadow would hike almost daily when we visited the North Carolina!)
