Summer

Enjoying the Boca life

More: This is a picture of my dog Summer that we recently rescued from Miami-Dade she was in such bad shape Skin and Bones and a mother of four puppies. I saw a Facebook ad with a picture that said she was going to be euthanized and I called my fiance right away and said please please we have to go to Miami right now and go pick up this poor dog. Without hesitation he text back yes. We hopped in the car and drove one hour to Miami where they told us she was extremely sick and needed a lot of care and she should be the only dog in the house. We later found out that when she arrived they put another dog in the kennel to see what she would do and the two dogs fought so they took Summers puppies away at 4 weeks old. The shelter told us we could not take her home that day that she needed a surgery and that we could come back tomorrow if we still wanted her of course we said yes. Again they said that we probably should not take her home because of how sick she was and in such bad condition. We did not care we were willing even though this was an unplanned event to see it through to help this baby. At home we do have two dogs and two cats but we did not hesitate when they told us that she should be the only dog because I know that they probably aren't taking into account how resilient dogs are. We took Summer home to an elderly three legged Chihuahua that we had adopted 11 years prior and to another rescue from Project s a t a and they were fine from the very beginning. Summer story is that she was found under a car with her puppies starving and a person gathered her up with her puppies and brought her to this shelter that is all we know about her. I want her to be the ambassador of shelter dogs because I see so many people purchasing their dogs and making sure that they have a designer pet is just not necessary and it leaves these poor souls in the shelter to have no future. Everywhere we go people stop us and ask us what kind of dog she is and can we pet her and how beautiful she is we cannot leave the house without someone stopping us. To think that's poor baby did not stand a chance at the shelter and here she is strong beautiful and loving is a true Testament to their breed.
