More: Tillie is a rescue. When we first got her she had never felt grass beneath her feet. She actually hit the deck when a butterfly went by. She is still scared of loud cars and most people, but when she is at our cottage on the coast of Maine she becomes the dog she would like to be--running the length of the wharf and vaulting over the gate, rolling in the seagrass, pointlessly digging sand and now, finally, wagging.
