More: Trooper is a rescue. His family didn’t want to give him up but had exhausted all their options. He ended up at my friend Mike’s, who started Second Chance Bird Dogs. Trooper was gun shy when he arrived, but after Mike and I working with him for 3 months he really transformed. He now holds steady points, runs after downed birds, retrieves to hands, and gets excited about looking for a downed bird when he hears a gunshot. He is now a permanent part of our family and a great hunting partner and boat dog.
