More: Hal is just what you'd think of a Golden Retriever pup -- energetic, enthusiastic and empathetic. He loves the snow and rain. Nothing deters him. One of a litter of ten, Hal knows how to get attention -- just sit and look handsome. He's a beautiful Golden, smart and a quick learner. He's been in my life since he was 8-weeks old, and every day has been an adventure. My fourth Golden, Hal captivates anyone he meets. He's sure got a big place in my heart. This past winter (2025-2026), we had several major snowstorms dumping 17 and 18 inches each time and sustained frigid temperatures in the single digits (with sub-zero wind chills). Living in northern NJ, this made for a hard winter. But not for Hal. He adapted immediately, letting me bundle him up in his Orvis coat and scaling snow banks like a goat! It was fun to watch him balance along the peaks of 5-6 foot snowbanks. As you can see from this picture, the cold doesn't stop Hal!
