Moe

Moe the Gentle Giant

More: For the first year and a half of his life, Moe was a stray running the streets, eating out of dumpsters, barely getting by in a little country town in the Ozarks. After the sheriff took him into custody, there is no animal control or humane society in Bolivar, MO, they shipped him to a shelter in St. Louis. When we met, he had mangy skin, was severely malnourished, and only weighed 80 lbs. He now tips the scale at 120. He did not bark, but looked at me and said, "They cut my nuts off yesterday. Who knows what they will do next. You know I am the dog you have been looking for, so?" From the moment we met he has been calm, kind, always on patrol, and quickly established himself as my soul dog. From the beginning, he would not eat food from the coffee table unless / until the plate is placed on the floor. He can scale a 6 ft fence, but won't unless told to. At the dog park he will not let other dogs fight and while he is suspicious of cats, he would never hurt a domesticated animal. That said, together with his brother, an Akita named Sir, he has one by one eliminated more than a dozen coyotes which were harassing livestock on the farms adjacent to our property. He loves hiking in the woods with me, swimming in our lake, and has recently started helping me hunt feral pigs in northern Arkansas. He would love to be associated with a high quality brand such as Orvis. He says, "Anything to help another doggo live the kind of life he does."
