His breeder surrendered him to the Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue when he was just 5 weeks old and 5 pounds. Dasher attempted to use his deformed leg as a crutch, resulting in a wound that would not heal and imbalance impacting his mobility. At 7 weeks of age, the decision was made to remove his leg.
