HeyDuke’s Kinnickinnic a’Sunfire (aka “Kinni”)

Kinnickinnic scanning the confluence of the Skagit and Sauk Rivers for that next elusive wild steelhead.

More: Kinni was an amazing bird dog, particularly when hunting winter-time river ducks on his home waters of Montana's Missouri River near Craig. I recall days when the high temperature didn't reach 5F, yet Kinni, with his gorgeous golden locks frozen in ice and chattering from the cold, was always at attention--scanning the skies for the next group of Goldeneye, Bluebills, or Mallards to slip down into our decoy spread...waiting patiently for his next opportunity for a frozen retrieve. That said, in his essence, Kinni was my fly fishing companion and my drift boat buddy. His calm, sweet demeanor and love for the river environment brought many shared adventures. From Washington's fabled Skagit River (pictured) to Oregon's wild and scenic John Day River to his home waters in Montana , he was always there, always by my side, a faithful partner to the core. He is missed.
