Kobe

“What? I’m doing my business.”

More: Kobe is a rescue, but I say that we rescued each other. I got him after my divorce, and he’s been my best friend ever since. Kobe understands English ( yes, he really does!) but that doesn’t mean he always listens ... but he usually does, particularly when treats are dangling .He likes snuggling ( but not on his back ) ,cuddling ( if the heated blanket is involved ) kissing (without the hugging ) and sleeping. His favorite toys are Rabbit, Squirrel and Pheasant ( he’s got an affinity for squeaky stuffed roadkill). Kobe only barks when the doorbell rings, or when “ Wheel of Fortune” is on ( same thing ). The end of the couch and the bed is his spot - so he can protect me - from what, I have no idea , but he’s on the job . Kobe’s a “stage five clinger” who’s #relationship goal is to never leave my side. However, he hides when it’s time to go for a walk! Luckily, once he’s out there, he’s all in . Kind of like me and the gym. When out walking, he prances like he’s in the Westminster Dog Show, eyes bright, tail up. He also lunges at every dog he sees - just in case they’re thinking of starting any funny business. Kobe loves to go shopping with me- I have a special flat dog bed he sits on in the cart .His favorite store is TJMaxx, because they have a fun dog section!Everyone who sees him “ oohs and aahs”...it’s sometimes hard to get things done ! I like to dress him in hoodies and t-shirts with cute sayings like “Life of the Party,” so I guess that’s my fault . Mostly they comment on his soulful eyes and gorgeous beige locks. He sees the groomer once a month - they’re practically dating . A man recently came in while Kobe was being groomed and commented , “ Now that is one handsome dog .” I beamed . I do brush him every day- he has long hair that can get matted, and that’s not fun “fur”either of us. Oh, and I make sure he gets the proper diet of vet prescribed kibble, rice, boiled chicken and a probiotic that makes his breath smell great . He recently got his teeth professionally cleaned, and they look better than mine . Well, almost . He’s got a great smile - but “ showing his teeth” when discontented is a scary sight. He does not like to have eye boogers removed - that really ticks him off . Well, no doggie’s perfect. However, the next minute he’s licking my face - and he’s over it . Kobe .... he is definitely one of a kind. Such a good boy. My groomer says that “ he owns me “ and, well, I’m ok with that.
