More: After a year of trying, my trainer suggested using a special toy. I have almost all of the Orvis toys that my 5 other Goldens have enjoyed since 2002. Affectionately named "Chuck Chicken" finally did the trick! My trainer is a genius! Now he readily jumps in and out. His expression says it all "Phew, thanks Chuck! (he seems to be saying!This isn't so bad after all!" We practiced just sitting in the back with the hatch open before I tethered him to a seatbelt a few days later. Then we took short rides, all with Chuck along for the ride!
