More: Petty, named for Tom, is an extra special baby boy. When we chose the official name, Handle with Care (a Traveling Wilbury’s song), we had no idea just how appropriate it would be. Petty was diagnosed with cataracts at 18 weeks of age and shortly after, lost his sight. Thankfully, at six months old, he was able to have surgery to restore his sight. He had a tough first year and will continue to face medical challenges but nothing stops him from loving life and playing to his heart’s desire. Here he is pictured on his favorite hill in our backyard, with his favorite ball. Our warrior boy is such an inspiration to us, a constant reminder to live in the moment.
