More: Sitka is named after a town in Alaska. We live in Rockport, Massachusetts, which was used as the setting of Sitka, Alaska in the movie "The Proposal." We got our dog around that time and we were trying to find a name that we all would agree upon. As we drove through our tiny town and stopped to say hello to a friend who was captivated by this eye-catching puppy, she said "You should call her Sitka." We looked at each other and exclaimed "YES." Huskies are free spirits and stunningly beautiful, as is Sitka. She stays outdoors most of the time and loves being in snow and rain. The problem with husky owners is sometimes people think we are neglectful to leave them out in weather that other dogs shun -- but the truth is the outdoors is where they WANT to be.
