More: Leo is a powerful, exuberant and curious dog and a super athlete- he loves to run through our fields and on the beach. He can turn in the air at top speed and catch a ball or frisbee like a wide receiver. He loves to swim laps in the pool and is always looking for applause. Leo has a very high energy level but at the same time he’s extremely affectionate and loves to cuddle up at every opportunity. . He will not hurt anyone or anything and barks for us to come to the rescue if he sees an injured bird or a squirrel stuck in the fence. He loves to help us feed the birds. But he is quirky. He won’t eat his food out of anything but his red plastic dish. He’s afraid to go down the basement steps. For the first two years of his life he tore the limbs from trees and carried them around like trophies and uprooted newly planted bushes. It took us three years to get him to jump into the car. He does not chase deer. Leo has an ongoing love-hate relationship with our resident fox who daily comes to taunt him, but when Leo had the opportunity to pounce he forfeited it and let the fox go on his way. Sometimes when Leo is happy he leaps from the ground and twirls in the air like a whirling dervish. Leo is almost always happy.
