More: Wally is a rescue from Dallas Animal Services. He was 8 weeks old and in foster care with his littermate when I went to meet him. I wasn’t sure I was ready for a dog but it turns out that he shared a name with my dad (Bruce) and was going to be ready to go home the day before the anniversary of my dad’s death. It felt like fate. (I changed his name, of course!)
